From Natural to Purple Ombre

So this was Sara’s first time doing a fashion color.  When she came in to show me pictures she originally wanted a blonde ombre.  Because of her ethnicity and coarseness of her hair I told her I wouldn’t be able to achieve the color that she desired.  She was totally down to doing a fun color so I showed her some options of different purple tones that we could do.  Her hair was grown out from highlights that we had done a few months ago so instead of touching it up I left her grow-out alone and sliced as well as Bayalage Wella blonder with 20 and 30 volume to create an ombre effect.  Once she was lifted light enough, I then mixed tw0 different shades of purple using Pravana Vivids.

Formula for a two-tone purple ombre:

Foils: Blonder + 20vol. Bayalage: Blonder + 30vol.  Rinse and shampoo.  Two bowls of Pravana: Magenta + Hot pink + Wild orchid and Pravana Blue + Wild Orchid.

I like this look for a lot of reasons.  It’s easy for my client to work with, she won’t have to feel like she needs to get it touched up all the time.  It blends really well with her natural color, it’s not too flashy or showy.  And once it’s faded it’ll be easy for me to touch it up, which could be the same formula I used before or something else depending on what tones she would like to see!
